Healthy Lifestyles is a CDC-approved diabetes prevention program. The program teaches lifestyle changes to prevent type 2 diabetes.

The Healthy Lifestyles program will help you: 

The Healthy Lifestyles program meets once a week for 16 weeks, then bi-monthly or monthly for the rest of the year.  A trained lifestyle coach will provide guidance and encouragement throughout the program. Classes are one-hour, and will be held at the same time each week. 

The class begins on Friday February 9, 2018 at 12:00 PM, and classes will meet at Healthy Community Coalition, 105 Mt. Blue Circle, Farmington, ME across the street from the hospital.

Class dates: 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23, 3/30, 4/6, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, 5/25, 6/15, 7/13, 8/7, 9/14, 10/19, 11/16, 12/14 and 1/18.

Healthy Lifestyles is a CDC-approved diabetes prevention program. The program teaches lifestyle changes to prevent type 2 diabetes.

The Healthy Lifestyles program will help you: 

  • Learn how to eat healthier, be more physically active and manage stress
  • Develop skills to make healthier choices to lose weight
  • Get the long-term support you need to stick with the changes

The Healthy Lifestyles program meets for one year: once a week for 16 weeks, then bi-monthly or monthly for the rest of the year.  A trained lifestyle coach will provide guidance and encouragement throughout the program. Classes are one-hour, and will be held at the same time each week. This class will be taught both in-person, and online, so you can attend most of the classes from the comfort of your own home.

The class begins on Wednesday February 28, 2018 at 5:00 PM, and in-person classes will meet at the Learning Resource Center classroom, 100 Campus Drive West Entrance in Scarborough.

Class dates: 2/28 In-person, 3/7, 3/14, 3/21 Online, 3/28 In-person, 4/4, 4/11, 4/18 Online, 4/25 In-person, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16 Online, 5/23 In-person, 6/6, 6/13, 6/20 Online, 6/27 In-person, 7/25, 8/29, 9/26, 10/24, 11/28, 12/19, 1/23 and 2/13 In-person.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Morning Session

The 9-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program is designed to help you cope more effectively with both long and short term stressors. Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn from the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, MBSR has been scientifically proven to enhance pain management and reduce pain levels, improve focus, resilience and the capacity to recover more quickly from challenging life events. Taught by an approved teacher of MBSR, instruction involves mindful meditation practices, discussion, gentle stretching and yoga (appropriate for all fitness levels.)
