The National Diabetes Prevention Program is a CDC-approved program that teaches lifestyle changes to prevent type 2 diabetes.

Click here to see if you may be at risk for Type 2 diabetes.  Please note: This program is not designed for people who have already been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

The National Diabetes Prevention Program will help you: 

  • learn how to eat healthier
  • be more physically active and manage stress
  • develop skills to make healthier choices to lose weight
  • get the long-term support you need to stick with the changes

The Diabetes Prevention Program meets once a week for 16 weeks, then once or twice a month for the rest of the year.  A trained lifestyle coach will provide guidance and encouragement throughout the program. Classes are one-hour, and will be held at the same time each week. 

The class begins on Thursday October 18, 2018 at 4:00 PM, and classes will meet at Healthy Community Coalition, 105 Mt. Blue Circle, Farmington, ME across the street from the hospital.

Diabetes Support Group

The LincolnHealth Diabetes Support Group meets every other month on the fourth Thursday at 1:15 pm to allow participants to share experiences and to know that they do not have to deal with diabetes alone. A guest speaker joins each meeting to present a topic they believe people with diabetes and their friends and family members may find beneficial.
