Vaping: The Stealth Epidemic (IN PERSON)

Free

with MaineHealth Learning Resource Center

Calendar Next available session starts Feb 24, 2020 at 6 pm

Do you know what a Suorin is, or what it looks like?
Would you know if the new sweatshirt your teen bought is actually a vaping device?
How many kids in Maine are really vaping anyway and how are they doing it in plain sight?

These are some of the questions that we will be tackling at our panel discussion regarding the youth vaping epidemic. Join us to hear how to talk to the teens in your life, check out the latest products and how easy they are to hide and hear the latest research on teen use and health impact.

Panelists will include a district tobacco prevention specialist, a substance use prevention specialist and a local school administrator. Panelists will speak for about half of the session and then open the discussion up for questions from the audience. Light refreshments and resources will be available.

Panelists:

Hawa Shir, Tobacco Prevention Specialist at City of Portland, Public Health Division

Emily DaSilva, MPH, Substance Use Prevention Coordinator, from the Opportunity Alliance

Molly Montgomery, LCPC, Student Assistance Counselor, Scarborough High School
