Community members are invited to join Pen Bay Medical Center’s Community Health department, hospital executives and staff from the Rockland Public Library in a community walk to celebrate Senior Health and Fitness Day on May 29. The walk begins at 10:30 a.m. at the library and continues around Rockland for up to two miles.

There are many health benefits to physical activity and a healthy lifestyle for those 65 and older including improved sleep, reduced anxiety and decreased blood pressure. Physical activity also builds muscular strength to assist with balance and fall prevention and can be as simple as going for a walk, doing chores around the house, yard work and seated chair exercises or stretches.
