Safe Travels ~ Car Seat Class

Car seat safety has changed a lot over the years. Do you know the safest way to buckle your baby up?

This class helps inform parents, grandparents and other caregivers of the importance of proper child restraint use (car seats) for their infant. You will learn:

  • Evidance-based information
  • Do's and Dont's of car seat safety
  • Proper installation of infant seat & base

Please bring your infant seat, base and owner's manuals for both the seat & your vehicle (if possible). A variety of car seats will be present for demonstration purposes as well.

Big Brother/Big Sister Class

Big Brothers or Big Sisters can have an opportunity for special time with Mom or Dad before their new baby arrives. This class includes:

  • Role play with their own special doll/stuffed animal you bring from home
  • Watch a movie about being a big sibling
  • Have story time 
  • Take a "field trip" to the Birthing Suite to see where Mom will be once the new baby arrives

This class will last exactly ONE hour. Recommended for Children ages 3 to 7. Mom should be in her last trimester. Class FEE is per family. When checking out, please do not add your children as attendees.

This nationally acclaimed program developed by Dr. Patricia Keener is a medically accurate, hands-on instructional program designed for young adolescents that teaches boys and girls how to be stay safe at home, have fun with children, as well as handle emergencies and behavior problems.

Classes are geared to students ages 11 -14. 

A scholarship from Safe Sitter is available upon approval. If you would like to apply for this scholarship, email Carol Welsh at  or call 744-6151. Once approved you will be given a scholarship code that will reduce the cost to $35.00. you must enter your code when registering to get the discount.

Mindfulness in Education

LincolnHealth’s Coulombe Center for Health Improvement is partnering with Erica Marcus, MAT, Certified Mindful Schools Instructor, to offer a six-week course to help Lincoln County teachers create a more positive classroom culture through mindfulness techniques.

This six-week course will focus specifically on implementation of mindfulness curriculum in K-12 classrooms. It will incorporate practice time, reflection, modeling, and collaborative group work to illustrate the personal and classroom benefits of mindfulness practice. Throughout the course, participants will build their own personal practice, practice short lessons based on weekly content, and envision a plan for implementation. Participants will leave with a local professional learning community around mindfulness, so they can continue to communicate at the completion of the course. The course will use The Mindful Education Workbook by Daniel Rechtschaffen as the anchor text. The cost of the class is $40 per person and includes the course anchor text, a chime, and light refreshments.

Course Objectives:

  • Define mindfulness and explain the current neuroscience and research that supports implementation
  • Explain the basic structure and function of the brain and nervous system
  • Practice a variety of mindfulness techniques and develop a personal practice
  • Develop a personal toolkit of mindfulness practices for students and generate a plan for implementation
  • Build a professional network of mindfulness educators to share best practices, feedback, and resources

The course will take place on seven consecutive Thursdays, Starting Thursday October 1st 2020 and ending November 5th . Participants should attend all six classes.

The Coulombe Center for Health Improvement is proudly sponsoring this class to help make it more affordable for Lincoln County teachers, school administrators and staff. If there is space, the class may open up to those outside of Lincoln County (please call to be put on wait list).
