Breastfeeding Support Group
with Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital Events

This informal support group for breastfeeding families provides interaction as well as individual assistance when needed. Women wanting more information about breastfeeding are also welcome. Facilitated by a lactation consultant from the Women and Infants unit. Because of room occupancy restraints, we are limited to a maximum of 7 moms with babies in arms. Breastfeeding Support Group 2023

This free peer support group is a great opportunity to meet other new breastfeeding parents in your community, share experiences, and receive postpartum and newborn care information and support. A lactation consultant facilitates the group and can answer your questions.
This group is currently meeting in an online or call-in format. Please register here to receive log-in or call-in information for this weekly group which meets on Tuesdays 1-3pm.
Starting on June 6th, this group will be meeting in person (with a hybrid Zoom option, too) at the MaineHealth Medical Building, 5 Bucknam Rd, Falmouth. (Ground floor, lots of parking!)
FREE but registration is required to receive Zoom info. Join anytime throughout the year. New members are always welcome!
Held Support Group
with Leah Kohlstrom, Journey to Health

This support group provides a safe space for families grieving the loss of a child through miscarriage or pregnancy loss. Join Leah Kohlstrom and Claire Philbrook the first Tuesday of each month at Pen Bay Medical Center's Beebe Center to explore grief with tea and the occasional activity. This will be a space to share and process grief alongside others who have experienced similar loss.

Mother's Support Circle

Empowering you through parent to parent support.
This free support group is a great opportunity to meet other new parents in your community, share experiences, and receive postpartum and newborn care information to help provide the best transition to parenthood. Lactation Counselors will be on site to answer your questions about breastfeeding and other feeding methods, provide guidance, and perform infant weight checks.
This group is held every Thursday from 10:00 - 11:30 AM in the SMHC Webber Building Conference Room on the second floor. Guest speakers may be highlighted each week!
FREE, registration required.

Newborn Sleep (0-3 mos): Setting the Foundations (2023)
with Jenna Marion, MMC Childbirth Education

This newborn sleep shaping class is for pregnant persons at any gestation and new parents with babies up to 12 weeks. During this class parents will learn how to set the foundations in the newborn period for healthy infant sleep. Topics discussed will include what to expect in the fourth trimester, newborn soothing strategies, the science behind sleep, developmental milestones, how to create a sleep conducive environment, how to encourage independent sleep, how and when to stop swaddling and realistic expectations regarding night wakings and feedings. We will also discuss planning for going back to work and transitioning to daycare.
Non-birthing partners are encouraged to attend.
This class is currently offered virtually via Zoom. After you are regisitered, you will receive an email with information as to how to participate in class.

Infant Sleep 101: Surviving the Sleep Regression (3-6 mos) - 2023

This 3-6 month infant sleep class is designed for parents who are struggling with getting through the 4-month sleep regression, which is a time of permanent change to baby's brain and sleep patterns. Topics discussed will include how and when to drop night feeds to get longer stretches of sleep while maintaining breastmilk supply, step-by step strategies to implement independent sleep skills, and how to work through the 4 to 3 nap transition. We will also discuss planning for going back to work and transitioning to daycare.
Non-birthing partners are encouraged to attend.

Navigating Concussion Recovery

Healing from a brain injury takes a long time. Join facilitator Moriah Hersey, OTD, OTR/L, for this informative and interactive support group where you can share your struggles with concussion; learn more about concussions, treatment and outcomes; and connect with others who have had similar experiences. This program is free but registration is required to obtain virtual access.
