Want or willing to breastfeed but unsure if you'll be able to? 

Do you worry about making enough milk or how to handle pumping when you go back to work?

What about other questions concerns/issues on feeding your baby?  Etc., etc., etc..

Then come to Stephens Memorial's Breastfeeding Social to learn and share.

We meet the third Tuesday of the month in the Ripley Building third floor centering room. 

Topics for discussion are led by all of you while our Lactation Consultant, Jaime, will be there to answer questions and provide expertise. Snacks are provided.  Fathers and other family members are welcome as well, and feel free to bring your little one if you've already delivered.

We do ask that you sign up even though there is no fee, so come learn  and have fun with us.

Preparing for Birth -1 day class

Are you excited about being pregnant and becoming a parent but also a little bit nervous?

Feel like you may not have control over what happens during labor? Wish for a perfect delivery?

Not sure how your husband/partner can help you through this process called labor?

Just want to be prepared!

Why not join a group of expectant parents as they have fun learning about the labor and delivery experience at Stephens Memorial Hospital’s Preparing for Birth Class.  Expectant moms will explore how to relax and allow themselves to flow with their labor through breathing and relaxation techniques. Their coach will learn how they can assist mom through the process of labor and share in the joy of birth. Information on making a birth plan, comfort measures, stages of labor, and cesarean delivery are all explored.  A question and answer session is always part of the class.

Is your child's car seat installed correctly?  When do you have to stop using LATCH? What is that hookey thing on the back of my car? When can my child ride forward facing?

If you don't know the answers to these and other car seat questions you are not alone. More than 90% of car seats in the State of Maine and either not correctly installed or misused.

DON'T BE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE!!  COME TO A CAR SEAT SAFETY CHECK AND BECOME A SUPER-USER. 

Registrtaion is not necessary just drop by the Norway Fire Department between 11am and 3pm. Enter from Beal Street.

Parents, caregivers, grandparents, anyone can ensure their child’s safety seats are properly installed; compatible with their vehicle; haven’t been subject to a recall; and are the appropriate seat for the child just by coming to one of our seat check events.

It is preferred that you have your child/children with you unless you are pregnant parents awaiting the birth of your baby.

If you are unable to attend an event inspections may be done by appointment.  For more information, to make an appointment, or to learn about the free seat distribution program call 207-744-6151.

Due to Covid-19 we are not currently scheduling classes, BUT WE ARE TAKING NAMES for future Safe Sitter classes so please email Carol Welsh welshc@wmhcc.org to be put on the waiting list. As soon as we have enough names we will reach out to you with date options.

DO YOU WANT TO EARN MONEY AND HAVE FUN AT THE SAME TIME?

THEN SIGN UP FOR A SAFE SITTER CLASS NOW!!!

This nationally acclaimed program developed by Dr. Patricia Keener is a medically accurate, hands-on instructional program designed for young adolescents that teaches boys and girls how to be stay safe at home, have fun with children, as well as handle emergencies and behavior problems.

Classes are geared to students ages 11 -14. 

A scholarship from Safe Sitter is available upon approval. If you would like to apply for this scholarship, email Carol Welsh at welshc@wmhcc.org  or call 744-6151. Once approved you will be given a scholarship code that will reduce the cost to $35.00. you must enter your code when registering to get the discount.

WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO IF YOUR INFANT CHOKED OR STOPPED BREATHING?

WELL, WOULD YOU???

If you can't immediately answer yes with confidence then sign up for this class.

Learn the skills for CPR and choking rescue on an infant up to the age of one year. This is a hands-on experience with manikins where you'll gain confidence through practice while having some fun as well.

Class is only 90 minutes and the cost minimal for a valuable life-long tool.

Price is per person so bring your family, friends and even your neighbors. You never know when you might need these skills.
