Walk for Wellness
Grab a friend and join a group of participants every Tuesday and Thursday for our indoor walking program. In this program, you will enjoy the benefits of walking and staying active as the weather is colder and the days are shorter. This class is for all walking levels. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water and join us as we walk for wellness! Please Note: Start time is anytime from 4:45 pm and all participants must be done by 8 pm. This will allow you the flexibility of a schedule that works for you! If school is cancelled due to weather, there will be no class.

If you can't immediately answer yes with confidence then sign up for this class.
Learn the skills for CPR and choking rescue on an infant up to the age of one year. This is a hands-on experience with manikins where you'll gain confidence through practice while having some fun as well.
Class is only 90 minutes and the cost minimal for a valuable life-long tool.
Price is per person so bring your family, friends and even your neighbors. You never know when you might need these skills.

Let’s enjoy the winter….Join Stephens Memorial Hospital and HeartSong Kennel for a fun dogsledding adventure. You will start with meeting and learning all about the dogs as well as some general history and interesting facts about dogsledding. You will have an opportunity to help harness the dogs in preparation for a 10-minute basket ride through the snow. Make sure to dress warm (think layers), Sunglasses or goggles are recommended. Weather permitting. Space is limited.
Very Important: Registration is required. Unfortunately walk-ins can not be accepted day of event.
Preparing for Birth -1 day class

Not sure how your husband/partner can help you through this process called labor?
Just want to be prepared!
Why not join a group of expectant parents as they have fun learning about the labor and delivery experience at Stephens Memorial Hospital’s Preparing for Birth Class. Expectant moms will explore how to relax and allow themselves to flow with their labor through breathing and relaxation techniques. Their coach will learn how they can assist mom through the process of labor and share in the joy of birth. Information on making a birth plan, comfort measures, stages of labor, and cesarean delivery are all explored. A question and answer session is always part of the class.

This nationally acclaimed program developed by Dr. Patricia Keener is a medically accurate, hands-on instructional program designed for young adolescents that teaches boys and girls how to be stay safe at home, have fun with children, as well as handle emergencies and behavior problems.
Classes are geared to students ages 11 -14.
A scholarship for $15 is available upon request.
Breastfeeding Social with Jaime Johnson

Would you like to meet other women who are pregnant or new moms just like you?
Want or willing to breastfeed but unsure if you'll be able to?
Do you worry about making enough milk or how to handle pumping when you go back to work?
What about other questions concerns/issues on feeding your baby? Etc., etc., etc..
Then come to Stephens Memorial's Breastfeeding Social to learn and share.
We meet the third Tuesday of the month in the Ripley Building third floor centering room.
Topics for discussion are led by all of you while our Lactation Consultant, Jaime, will be there to answer questions and provide expertise. Snacks are provided. Fathers and other family members are welcome as well, and feel free to bring your little one if you've already delivered.
We do ask that you sign up even though there is no fee, so come learn and have fun with us.
Diabetes Prevention Program- Memorial Hospital (MEM021920)

Classes will be held weekly from 1:30 - 2:30 pm at Memorial Hospital.

The National Diabetes Prevention Program will help you:
- Learn how to be healthier and get active
- Develop skills to make healthier choices
- Get the long-term support you need to stick with the changes
The National Diabetes Prevention Program meets for one year: once a week for 16 weeks, then bi-monthly or monthly for the rest of the year. A trained instructor will provide guidance and encouragement throughout the program. Classes are one-hour, and will be held at the same time each week.Please note: This program is not designed for people who have already been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

Snowshoeing Hike - Overset Pond

Explore the snow covered trails as we trek through the area that loops along the Sanborn River, Overset Pond and to the top of Overset Mountain. Join SMH and Lorie Olson, Maine native and avid hiker for this hike, which is approximately 5 miles. From the top, you will have a beautiful view of the lake and surrounding hills and mountains.
