Mind Over Matter
with Magda Alden, MaineHealth Cancer Care Network

Are you a MaineHealth cancer patient or caregiver, either in current treatment or in your first year of survivorship? Are you interested in learning tips and tools to handle the big feelings that often come after a cancer diagnosis?
Please join us for our 5-week Mind Over Matter class where you will learn skills to cope with the fears, worries and sadness that come up for many people going through cancer. This is not a support group and is instead a skill building class. Each 1.5 hour class will include an: Emotion (feeling) based exercise, a Relaxation exercise, and a Cognitive (thinking) exercise. You will be asked to practice these new skills between classes.
The Mind Over Matter class was developed by Inova Life with Cancer and is facilitated by MaineHealth oncology social workers Magda Alden, LCSW, OSW-C and Carrie Maynard, LCSW-OSW-C.
This is a 5 week series and the skills build each week, so we ask for a commitment to attending at least 4 of the 5 classes.
Open to adult MaineHealth cancer patients & caregivers, in current treatment through first year of survivorship.
