Youth Mental Health First Aid
with Vikki Webster, Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital Events
Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18.
The course will teach you how to apply the MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE):
• Assess for risk of suicide or harm.
• Listen nonjudgmentally.
• Give reassurance and information.
• Encourage appropriate professional help.
• Encourage self-help and other support strategies.
This course is for adults who work with youth, including teachers, school staff, coaches, camp counselors, youth group leaders, and parents. It will be located at the Pen Bay Physician's Building at 4 Glen Cove Drive, downstairs in Conference Room C. Participants should pack lunch. All participants will receive a certification in Youth Mental Health First Aid.

Teepa Snow's Getting to Know Dementia | New Skills For Helping and Supporting (In- Person)

Class is for loved ones who are caring for a person living with dementia. One hour long workshop geared towards the general public.
Living Well with Diabetes Self-Management Program, Virtual
with Living Well with Diabetes Self-Management Program
The Living Well with Diabetes Self-Management Program will help you:
- Learn healthier eating habits, menu plan and be active
- Develop skills to make healthier choices
- Get the support you need to stick with the positive changes
The Living Well with Diabetes Self-Management Program is offered online via Zoom in a small group setting. Classes meet once a week for 6 weeks, and each class is 2 to 2 ½ hours. Two trained leaders will provide guidance and encouragement throughout the 6 week program. Participants in this program will also receive a copy of the book “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Condition 5th edition” to use throughout the class and keep as a continuing resource.
To qualify for this program, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes
- Not be pregnant
- Live in Maine or New Hampshire

Bring Your Own Car Seat 2024

We are offering this class online. After you are registered, shortly before the class starts you will receive an email with information as to how to participate in the class. Thank you for understanding.
Proper car seat use saves lives! Many parents are shocked to find out that car seats are usually used incorrectly.
This class will teach you how to install and use your car seat correctly.
After this course, parents will be confident and prepared to use infant car seats.
We will talk about safety in and around cars and the do’s and don’ts for infant safety in regards to the car seat.
You will also learn when to transition your child to another seat and how to keep your child safe as he or she grows.
Registrants are asked to bring their car seats with to the class, including the car seat base for hands-on practice.
We recommend attending this class anytime before the 37th week of pregnancy.

Mindful Morning - Mini Retreat
with Rebecca Porter, Mid Coast Center for Community Health and Wellness
This three-hour mini-retreat is designed for individuals of all levels of experience. Mindfulness-based exercises, meditation, and movement (stretches and gentle yoga) will be combined with discussion of the principles of mindfulness and its relevance to stress in our lives.
